Essay 1 !
Development of health until today
There were, of course, differences between treatment and
education before Christ or in the 19th and 20th centuries. From the earliest
history of mankind until today, education and health have been favorite
subjects. People have succeeded in spreading treatments to different countries
by developing various methods, migrating, and giving training. These expansions
and the passing of time have led to the evolution of health education.
Although in ancient times the so-called ‘healing arts’
and the way of achieving health by using more abstract methods in treatment
were used, in the 19th and 20th centuries, theoretical and clinical findings in
treatments were closely linked to each other. In antiquity, medicine lost its reliability
and usefulness as other beliefs far from science entered medicine. In contrast,
the medicine we see in the 19th and 20th centuries is based entirely on
mathematical and experimental proofs. Today's health care involves only
science, separated from religion.
There were not many methods to learn about health
conditions or treatment methods in prehistoric times and to transfer them to
the next generation, but hieroglyphic writings, paintings, and human remains
have helped us learn the methods of that period. However, thanks to the written
language, printing press, and facilities developed in the 19th century, these
cave drawings evolved into bound books, experiments, and clinics. Many
instructive artifacts have been created over the centuries revolving around
healing and medicinal activities. The Iranian physician Rhazes, an important
figure in Arab medicine at that time, wrote in detail about the methods of
treatment in his book Al-tibb al-Mansuri, and then these books were replaced by
textbooks.
At the end of the first millennium, the first medical
school was founded in Salerno, southern Italy, and remained in operation until
1812. Over the centuries, the guidance provided by these many artifacts reached
the general population and social groups. In the 19th century, the great
development of medicine was characterized by the establishment of medical
facilities, clinics, medical institutions, and associations.
Finally, modern medicine brings new approaches,
treatments, and preventive measures to previously incurable diseases. However,
the modern era also brings new epidemic diseases. The 20th century has deepened
scientific knowledge in the fields of allergy, gerontology, psychiatry,
neurology, oncology, and others. Although it has brought negative elements with
the ongoing evolution of health and health education, its benefits are
undeniable.
